I just got done telling Heather you'd have to pay me to shop on Black Friday. It's a crowd thing. If that many people want to be there then I don't. So this is my one Black Friday post for the season. The Black Friday forum at Slick Deals seems to be pretty comprehensive including tips and anticipated sale items. And Wise Bread also has a post with shopping tips. With this much advanced notice, you have plenty of time to research quality and prices.

I normally wouldn't go out on Black Friday but my oldest had outgrown all his shirts so I went to Kohls. The traffic wasn't too bad. The Kohls line was long but the store wasn't packed and everyone was in good spirits. I got a lot of clothes, including winter jackets that were more than half off!
